Virtual ACT/SAT Boot Camp
Virtual ACT/SAT boot camp class with test prep instructor Dr. Bobby Selkin. This two-hour virtual boot camp is ideal for students that need to learn test-taking skills, tips, and strategies, one week before an official ACT or SAT. Dr. Bobby will also go over each section of the test and let students know what types of questions they will encounter.

SAT Boot Camp
SAT Math: Percents, ratios, proportions, units and conversion, statistics, data relationships, data collection and conclusion. pre-algebra through algebra II – algebraic expressions, algebraic equations and inequalities, absolute value, systems of linear equations, slope, graphs of linear equations and inequalities, creating linear models, and interpreting linear models. Advanced math and additional math topics – equations with fractions and exponents, equations with radicals, functions, quadratic equations, polynomials, nonlinear models, angles, triangles, circles, volume, complex numbers, and trigonometry.
SAT Reading: Detail questions, main ideas, words in context, inference, analogous, and evidence. Point of view questions, purpose questions, structure questions, word choice, data graphics, and paired passages.
SAT Writing: Pronouns, subject-verb agreement, comparisons, idioms, diction, fragments, run-ons, sentence structure, parallelism, modifiers, verb-tense, commas, semicolons, colons, and apostrophes. Expression of ideas – development, support, main idea, deletion, addition, organization, transition, wordiness, style, and data/informational graphics.
ACT Boot Camp
ACT Science: Interpretation of data - interpretation, relationship, connection, detail. Scientific investigation - experimental design and additional data. Evaluation of models, inferences, & experimental results - evaluation, perspective, assessment.
ACT Math: Pre-algebra and basic concepts - fractions, percents, proportions, and foundational concepts in algebra, geometry, and statistics. Number properties and systems - complex numbers, vectors, and matrices. Solutions, graphs, and models for equations - exponents, inequalities, quadratic equations, and higher-order polynomials. Triangle rules and coordinate geometry - Right triangles, SOH/CAH/TOA, and conic sections. Function notation and application - Trigonometric identities, the unit circle and logarithms. Data analysis and relationships - averages, combinations, and probability.
ACT Reading: Passage types - prose fiction/literary narrative, social science, humanities, natural science. Question types - detail, generalization and main idea, comparative relationships, cause-effect, voice and method, contextual meaning, and inference.
ACT English: Grammar & usage - subject-verb agreement, pronouns, idioms. Sentence structure - run-ons, fragments, modifiers. Punctuation - commas, apostrophes, colons, semicolons. Strategy - main idea, adding, deleting. Organization - organization and transitions. Style - style and wordiness.
